Thirty Two Years in Room 1014
Gerald DeCock moved into Room 1014 at the Hotel Chelsea in 1994. He's painted there for three decades. Through the hotel's ownership changes, its renovations, its reinvention as one of the most storied artist addresses in the world. On October 1st, he's being cruelly evicted.
Gerald's story is the subject of A Muse Inn, a feature documentary. The campaign built around it has passed 1,000,000 views with zero paid promotion. It's been covered by the New York Post, engaged by the Mayor's Office to Protect Tenants, and followed by collectors including a well-known New York actress who bought three of Gerald's paintings and shared them with her own audience.
This isn't a story that's already been written. It's still happening and Saturday is part of it.
